Man in wheelchair hit, killed crossing Highway 99

A 58-year-old man in a wheelchair died Saturday night after being struck by a car while he tried to cross Highway 99 in an unmarked crosswalk.

Washington State Patrol troopers were called to the incident at Highway 99 and Gibson Road at 10 p.m.

The victim, identified as David R. Hayes, died at the scene after being hit by a northbound Kia Sedona driven by a 26-year-old man, according to the State Patrol.

Alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the incident, according to investigators.

That guy in the wheelchair shouldn't have been alone, let alone crossing somewhere unmarked in the dark! =(

'cause it had to be said, but this is definitely unfortunate, the wheel chair guy definitely should of put a little bit more thought into this.
